Happy Memorial Day!!!

First and foremost, I want to give a HUGE thank you to all of the men and women who are in the armed forces risking their lives on a daily basis to keep our country free. THANK YOU. YOU ARE AMAZING.

And I want to take this moment to remember and honor those who have lost their lives defending this country. Although it may not always be said, your contributions are greatly appreciated.

It’s going to be a busy day for me. I have a morning Zumba class planned, along with my church picnic, and a cousin’s birthday party to follow. I love spending time with family and friends so today is going to be GREAT. I’m so excited! There will be plenty of food including barbecue and crawfish, and that’s just what I know about! I’ll be sure to come back and update you on everything, including pictures. I hope you all have an AMAZING day. Be blessed.

xo, Rita

I Cut my Hair!!!

First of all, let me say Happy Belated Mother’s Day to all moms, step-mothers, god-mothers, mother-in-laws, and every other woman who has made a difference in someone life! You are beautiful!

About a week or two ago, I cut my hair. I cut all of it off. It was pretty much a big chop except for the front. My reasoning for this is because I could not successfully care for my hair at the length that it was with my schedule. Between school, church, and work I had no time for my hair. The fact that it took me at least 4 hours to wash my hair didn’t help the cause either.

Now, let me tell you how I feel about the cut. I have mixed feelings. I’m relieved that I don’t have as much hair to care for and it only takes me an hour to go through the wash process now. BUT my heart is heavy because all of my glory is gone. My hair was BEAUTIFUL, and it still is, but there’s a whole lot less of it to see now. It will grow back, and hopefully I’m able to give it the love and care it needs when it gets to be of great length again.

Love and Peace,

xoxo ReeseMe and my god-sons.

Happy Resurrection Day!!!

This post is extremely late in the day, but it’s better late than never. 🙂

Today is Resurrection Sunday, otherwise known as Easter. It’s a day where we Christians reflect on the event that shapes the very foundation of our beliefs. In service today, my pastor taught a message about life and death. Every choice we make, we have to decide if it will lead us to spiritual life or death. It’s a very simple message, and there is no in-between. We can’t not choose, not choosing would be rejecting Jesus and choosing death. Jesus went to Calvary and shed His Blood so that we could have a choice. Temptation arises and there are times when death looks appealing but His Blood gives us power and strength to stand up and choose life EVERY TIME. Christ’s Blood is unending; it never runs out! There’s enough for today, tomorrow, and forever! All you have to do is make a conscious effort to choose life. When God looks into your heart and sees your desire then He will send His Holy Ghost with His Blood to help you make the right choice. Be encouraged today and choose LIFE.

Much love and peace,

xoxo Reese

Straight Hair!

Hello hello!

I have been extremely busy with school and work. I just wanted to share with you all an update on my hair.

I went to a hairstylist and got my hair flat-ironed! It looks nice but I miss my curls already. My reason for getting my hair straightened was to get a trim, which I BADLY needed. My ends were horrible! But I had an overall pleasant experience. The way the stylist flat-ironed my hair I don’t think I got any heat damage but I won’t know for sure until I wash my hair.

Anyways, I’m going to try to make it last to the end of the week and I’ll post if I do any cute/fun hairstyles.

Love and Peace,
xoxo Reese

Happy Anniversary!

Hey everyone!

This post is late, but I am extremely excited to announce that I have reached my one year natural hair anniversary! The official date was on February 14. I can’t believe it’s already been a year! It’s been a roller coaster ride, but I couldn’t be happier with my hair. I’m not an expert but I am continuing to learn new things about my hair as time progresses and I’m excited I’ve even made it to this point. More and more ladies around me are beginning to embrace their natural hair and the men are coming around as well. Soon, hopefully, I’ll be putting together a video picture collage showing the progress of my natural hair journey over this past year. So be sure to look out for that. I’m looking forward to many more years on this journey of embracing my natural hair! 🙂

Love and Peace,

xoxo Reese

Note of Value

This is just a friendly reminder of what I believe in. My pastor has been preaching this message lately and I just want to scream it at the top of my lungs and share it with everyone. 🙂 It’s one of the cornerstones of my beliefs.

“Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.” (I Corinthians 11:4-5)

“For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.” (I Corinthians 11:10)

“But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.” (I Corinthians 11:15)

These scriptures are basically commands for women to not cut their hair, and allow it to grow long. It’s a picture of separation. If you follow the command, there is a reward: power of angels to fight against all the darkness that comes against you. This is nothing new, but it excites me every time I hear it and I wanted to share it with you all. I love it!

Love and Peace,

xoxo Reese 🙂
